In 2001, Pump Dance Studios was established in Wellington, New Zealand. The company specializes in hip hop, jazz, ballet and contemporary dance by providing classes, performances and workshops throughout the country.
With Pump Dance crews performing and teaching in Wellington schools, plus weekly classes for all ages and abilities at various locations throughout the city, there is something for everyone.

The instructors at Pump Dance Studios pride themselves on creating professional and inspiring lessons while catering to the needs of all individual students. The studio is devoted to encouraging a love of dance within the students, whether through competitive achievements or purely for pleasure.
Director and founder, Libby Calder, has been teaching hip hop dance for 15 years. In 2001, at the age of 16, Libby created Pump Dance Studios. Today there are over 500 students, 20 competitive teams and 24 dance instructors, all of whom are involved in competitions and performances throughout New Zealand.
Libby has been involved in dance productions for Maori TV, What Now TV, The Fringe Festival, Cuba St Carnival, The Good Morning show and Top of the Pops. Libby has judged the dance section of the Wellington Regional Stage Challenge competition for the past few years. As well as teaching dance full-time, Libby currently coaches advanced hip hop crews, many of which have won National and International titles. Libby is also a co-founder and the coach of Infinite Dance Crew, an all-female dance team that has won gold at the NZ National Hip Hop Unite competition in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2o13. Infinite competed in the Hip Hop Unite World Championships in Serbia in 2014 and placed 1st the adult division.
